September - The month of my favourite race
The Great North Run.
13.1 miles of incredible support from the Northeast crowds and as usual my fundraising was for Breast Cancer Now.
It all starts with off on the Saturday with the Mini and Junior runs plus the City Games. Last year I was fortunate enough to be asked to be the offical starter of the Mini Great North run along with local Oympian Aly Dixon and Lil Pink Dress Ruby.
The day was truly amazing meeting the amazing Athlete Colin Jackson who interviewed me for the BBC.
The next day was the main event - an early start as I had numerous interviews. I arrived at the startline at 7.20 am. Meeting a great friend Ore Oduba who I've known for years through various races we got our usual selfies lol.
Once my interviews were over I made my way to the front, meeting a few celebrities Denise Lewis, Ricky Wilson etc who all kindly stopped for photos.
With 20 mins to the start I met the amazing Tony the Fridge who had just done 99 GNRs in a row with today being his 100th truly amazing effort. We had planned to finish together but after 100meters we lost each other lol.
As usual the crowds were absolutely second to none all the way round. It took me 3hrs 23 mins but I was happy with that.
To finish off a memorable day I was invited into the VIP finish meeting Race organiser and legend Brendan Foster and also the most inspiring lady I know Claire Lomas who had done the GNR course in a bionic suit as she was left paralysed by a horse riding accident.
This woman lives life to the full and we could all learn from her.
All in all it was an astounding day - I just love the Northeast
Thank you for all the support guys
